Priceline Saves the Day!

So, I've never actually been one to use priceline.com, but I was DESPERATE tonight. I have an event tomorrow and being without a car for 3 weeks now and not having ANYONE that could take me/drop me off tomorrow, I decided that the best solution was to rent a car.

As I did some research on some other sites, my dear boyfriend said that I should check out Priceline, to name my own price. After he thoroughly calmed my fears about the whole process, I decided to give it whirl. And boy am I glad I did.

I was able to get an economy rental car from Alamo for $9.00/day!!!!!!! The funniest thing about it is that my taxes and fees are more than my daily rate but I will take it!! They will be getting my business in the future, that's for sure!

Thank you, Priceline, for making my life a little easier, even if it's only for a day!

Has anyone else used Priceline and were you able to get a good deal?

what i'm loving wednesday!

Today, I have linked up with Jamie over at this kind of love for What I'm Loving Wednesday!!!
- I'm loving that Mark is home again, I sure did miss him!!
- I'm loving that I don't have to wake up early to go to work on Friday! (YAY for being able to sleep in)
- I'm loving that I get off work early on Thursday because I have to attend a Teen Asset Meeting in the morning.
- I'm loving that I have a clean house to come home too.
-I'm loving some of my Pinterest finds this week that make me soooo happy:
This necklace/bracelet (not sure which one it is) is so adorable. Lovebirds. M+J. Perfect.
This is how I hold my cup anyway, this just makes it easier and more convenient.
How can this little guy NOT make you happy!! He is just screaming for me to love all over him! Mark and I want a Bully so bad!
It's so important to be reminded of this everyday no matter what!
Peanut Butter Bars....YUM!!!! PB always makes this girl happy!

What are YOU loving today??

Don't forget to link up! Happy Wednesday to you!

Ten on Tuesday

Once again, I have linked up with Roots and Rings for Ten on Tuesday!

1. What is your dream vacation?
My dream vacay would be about two months long and I would travel the world. I wanna go everywhere! Spain, Paris, Germany, Italy, Caribbean. You name it - I want to go!

2. What has been your favorite trip so far in your life?
I haven't really been on any trips lately but one I will never forget in my life is when my mom took us on a family vacation to New Orleans (pre-Katrina). I feel in love with that place. I would LOVE to go back...something about that city that has my heart.

3. If you and one of your best friends could go anywhere in the world for one week, where would it be and why?
WOW! This is a tough one. I think I could talk Mark into taking me to Paris. He has been to France before but I haven't and this is on my bucket list anyway.

4. Have you ever booked a trip using an online deal? How did it go?
I haven't actually. I have rented hotels and had car reservations, but that's all. I have looked, but never purchased.

5. What’s your favorite thing to do while you’re on vacation?
To relax, be spontaneous and enjoy myself while in good company.

6. Have you ever missed an opportunity to take a trip that you regret?
I've missed lots of trips in my time. I wanna live my life without regret and one day, I know that I will make up for what I missed.

7. You travel far away from home and get stranded with no way to buy anything, what’s the one thing you can’t live without?
My phone and charger. I could then call someone, tell them to wire me some money and then we would be on our way :)

8. What’s one of your favorite traveling memories?
With family, it would have to be the trip to New Orleans. My first flying experience by myself was to NY to see a friend so that is definitely a favorite memory. Panama City Beach, FL with my friends right out of high school will be a trip I never forget and Mark and I haven't really traveled together but I just KNOW that our honeymoon will be a great memory!

9. All included resort or backpacking? Why?
All inclusive resort, obviously. I don't hike and I certainly don't backpack through anywhere!

10. Are you more of a lie on the beach kind of person on vacation, or do you prefer to see the sights?
I love the best of both worlds.

Now, answer the questions, blog about it and go link up --- everyone is doing it!!

J

Kroger, Blue Moon Affair and other ramblings

I'm actually saddened by the lack of coupon match-ups at Kroger so I would much rather not waste the time in posting them so you can head on over to How it Have it All's blog and check out the Kroger Deals page to get all of the coupon match-ups and sales.

In other news, I have a big work event coming up on Friday called the Blue Moon Affair. This gala supports the youth programming where I work, the Youth Empowerment Center. Not only will there be a free cocktail hour, dinner, dancing and live entertainment, but Judge Hatchett will be our guest speaker.
Although I will be working (just transporting some youth), my dear boyfriend will be accompanying me to this event. I'm not sure what to expect really, but let's just hope we raise enough money so that I can keep my job and that we can change more young lives.

I have also been listening to Pandora Radio and I forgot how much I loved it. I've been tuned into the Ray LaMontagne channel. AWESOME!!

I've also been wavering back and forth about a decision that I have to make - to attend my 10 year High School Reunion. I'm not sure if I want to go, and then if I don't go, would I regret it?? What do you think I should do. To go? Or not to go? That is the BIG question!

I was just asked to be in a wedding yesterday!! How exciting is that??!!!?? It's always an honor to be asked to be in a wedding so I was thrilled (and surprised) that my good friend, Naomi, asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding! I'm very excited and happy for her and her fiance, Jeremy!

I've also had a burning itch to start crafting. I'm talking about re-doing furniture, making cutesy things for my apartment and crafting things to give as presents.

Here are some things that I want to try (courtesy of Pinterest):
Something ambitious, but I think it would be so fun to re-do ugly furniture. And think about all the money you would save.
How cute is this wreath. It totally can be used throughout the entire winter season. I know we aren't there yet, thank goodness, but if I want this done by winter, I need to start like, yesterday.
I love recycling things to make beautiful, fun things like this bowl made from magazines. I wonder how long this would take me?
I think the idea of monograms are cute but I especially love the twine wrapped around the letter and the cute navy bow and flowers. I bet I could make a different colored bow and flowers for each season (or month).
How darling are these totes. Apparently it only takes 20 minutes to make but I don't have a sewing machine and I don't really know how to sew all that well, but they sure would make cute gifts!

WOW! I just realized how long this post was, so I apologize, and thank you if you made it all the way through...bless your heart.

J

where did the weekend go?

My weekend was spent doing nothing. Okay, well I did something just not want I wanted. I was supposed to be spending the weekend celebrating my boyfriend's 25th birthday but he had another agenda - Cincinnati with his grandma. So I spent the weekend relaxing, surfing the web and cleaning. Lucky me, right.

And tonight, I sit clipping coupons after a 30 minute walk to the gas station for some newspapers, indulging in some Sunday night TV and working on Kroger and Meijer coupon match-ups. Stay tuned.

What did you do this weekend?

Happy Fall

Today is the first day of fall. Fall is my favorite season ever and what better way to start off the season than with a fall bucket list.

Here are some things that I want to do this fall...
  • go apple picking
  • go on a hay-ride
  • have a photo shoot in a leaf pile (just as I did when I was a kid!)
  • make caramel apples
  • bake one pie (i've never baked one before)
  • go on at LEAST two dates with Mark
  • decorate a pumpkin
  • go for a picnic in the park with apple cider and all
What is on your fall bucket list this season?

But first and most importantly on this rainy first day of fall, I'm gonna celebrate Mark's 25th birthday!!!

what i'm loving wednesday

Today I am linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday. I hope you link up what you are loving, too!

I'm loving my bed. Even though I don't spend nearly enough time as I would like in it, I still love it when I can get a good night's sleep in.
I'm loving that I am blogging more...even if I only have a couple of readers.
I'm loving that I got to catch up with my friend, Becky, on the phone last night. It's nice being able to talk to your girlfriends.
I'm loving that I am able to contribute to a needy family at work through my couponing.
I'm loving some fall outfits that I recently found on pinterest...

I really need to go shopping now, but first...I need some money so I love the fact that I have a full time job and another job opportunity starting soon so I can have all of this awesomeness for fall!
Have a great Wednesday! I hope you are loving today!

Keeping up...

Since we don't have cable and Mark and I are avid Netflix watchers, we have been watching A LOT of TV series in what little downtime we have. He has been working a lot and I have been working a lot since my change to full time so we just snuggle up and spend time quality time watching some of our favorite shows. I finally finished watching Manhunters while Mark was out of town the last couple of days and now we are into watching

We have already gotten through season 1 and now we are working our way to the end. I'm sure Mark will miss a few but I know I'm not. We both have seen the show before but never a full episode and never in sequence, so I am pretty excited about it...it cracks me up! My favorite is Khloe and Mark's favorite is Kim, of course!

What are you into watching?

J

what i'm loving wednesday!

Again, it's late, but I am still linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday.
I'm loving that Mark and I no longer have to share one laptop. Thank goodness he now has his own!!

I'm loving my sister, Nicole. My co-worker, Carmel. And my friend, Ashlee. They are all graciously taking turns picking me up for work or taking me home from work until I get a new engine put in my car.

I'm loving Blue Diamond's Honey Roasted Almonds. They are such a quick and easy snack.
I'm loving this little guy:

Meet Burke. He is my friend Ashlee's son. I've had the pleasure in loving on him on any ole day and taking care of him when mommy was sick and when mommy needed to get a haircut on Friday while daddy worked. He is so lovable and cuddly and he is such an easy baby to care for. I especially love it when he laughs while he sleeps. How can you not love this sweet little face and his rockin' owl hat!!

I love that I purchased a 12 roll package of toilet paper and only paid .52!

I looooooooove that I am now working full time!!!!!! (Even though I am hardly at home anymore)

And I am loving my sweet boyfriend, Mark, for putting up with me and my crazy, stressed out self for the last couple of weeks. Since we no longer have a car I have been taking him on a roller coaster ride of emotions and he has dealt with it all...bless his heart!

What are you loving today?

Ten on Tuesday

I know it's late, but I have linked up with Roots & Rings for Ten on Tuesday, anyway.

Here are the questions for this week:
WOULD YOU RATHER:
1. eat chocolate covered grasshoppers or this freaky squid thing?
Definitely the grasshoppers...I'm so grossed out watching that squid video!
2. never see another movie or never watch TV again?
This one is hard...I don't watch a lot of TV now but I do watch a lot of Netflix which has a lot of TV on it and I can watch pretty much any TV show I want and I don't watch too many movies anyway so I would have to say that I don't really need to watch another movie.
3. be a superhero with a lame power or a super villain with an awesome power?
Superhero with a lame power.
4. eat only salty snacks for the rest of you life, or only sweet snacks?
Oh man...definitely sweets...
5. never read another book or never hear another song?
I can't believe I have to choose to give up one. I looooooooooove, looooooooove to read and music is such an enormous part of my life and music says to much and songs remind me of certain people and places...but, I would have to say...Ohmygosh this is soooo hard. Books, okay I'm going with books. As much as it pains me, I would give up reading books.
6. be a whale carcass remover or a sewer inspector?
A whale carcass remover sounds waaaaaaaaaaaay better than hanging out with someone else's poo. Not happening.
7. have no electricity or no running water?
No running water...I have friends and I need electricity for everything in my house to run/work.
8. be a dog or a cat?
Hands down I would want to be a dog!!!
9. always be hot or always be cold?
I hate being hot, like HATE, HATE, HATE being hot so I will choose to be cold because you can get warm with clothing, right?
10. be forced to watch all 3 High School Musicals on an endless loop, or the Twilight movies?
Twilight. I don't really care about them but I have seen them and I can handle watching them. Obnoxious teenagers singing songs = shoot me in the face!

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!!

J

good news!

There is no need to beat around the bush, so here it is:
I'm officially FULL TIME!!!
This may not be as important to you, as it is to me, but I have sacrificed a lot when I accepted my current position - lower pay, part time, no benefits, no personal amenities...you get the idea.
I was promised full time several months back and I thought I was actually going to become full time after our summer program was over, but it never happened, so I was actually kind of shocked when my director approached me about it today. He asked me if I needed to think about it - HA! There was definitely NO need to think about it or any hesitation.

This change means a lot for Mark and I, and I couldn't be any happier. So with that said, I will be putting down the laptop for the remainder of the weekend so that I can get my house back in tip top shape since I will be gone literally all day and all evening!

Let's hope I can pull myself together to keep up with all this blogging I have been doing lately! Have a great weekend ya'll!!!

J

lack of motivation

There are about a million other things that I need to be doing instead of blogging/facebooking/pinteresting. Things that include:

- Loading the dishwasher
- Gathering up all the laundry to take to the laundromat this weekend
- Cleaning the bathroom
- Picking up allllll of my shoes that have somehow been scattered throughout the house
- Finishing up lesson plans for October
- Unpacking the non-perishable groceries that I got on SATURDAY...YIKES!
- Making a craft that I found on Pinterest
- Catching up with a friend or two on the phone (except that I don't have all of my friends phone numbers because I lost all of my contacts)
- Taking the nail polish off my fingers and re-painting them

This is just a small list of the things that I could be doing, but here I sit, writing this list, thinking it's just going to get itself done.

Do you ever have days like this, that you just have so much you want to get down but you have no motivation to do any of it? Maybe tomorrow after work, or this weekend I'll get around to it. In the meantime, I have a snack waiting and an episode of Jersey Shore to catch up on (Please don't judge me)!

what i'm loving wednesday

Once again, I am trying this whole linking up thing and today I am linking up with Jamie over at this kind of love with What I'm Loving Wednesday.

I'm loving that I only have 3 more days of work until the weekend.
I'm loving this cool weather that we are having. I'm done with melting for the year.
I'm loving sweatpants for the chilly nights.
I'm loving easy crafts that I can make for Fall that I found on Pinterest:

I'm always loving all products from Living Simply Soap. Tanya is the loveliest business women I know and her shop is so cute. Now is the time of year to get the best scent ever...Pumpkin Cornbread. You won't be disappointed.

Ten on Tuesday

This is my first time linking up on a blog so here goes nothin'!

Today I have linked up with Roots & Rings for Ten on Tuesday - which are ten completely random questions provided by Chelsea, the author.

1. What temperature do you keep your thermostat on during the day? Now that it is finally - and hopefully - cooled down, until next summer, my thermostat isn't on.
2. What temperature do you keep your thermostat on at night? Refer to above.
3. In a canister of mixed nuts, do you pick out certain varieties and leave the others? I always save the best for last, the almonds.
4. What is your favorite kind of M&M? Peanut Butter M&M's
5. How do you buy books? (Amazon, bookstore, new, used, electronic, etc). I like the idea of an e-reader but I actually love the idea of holding the book in my hand and seeing how far I have gotten and how much I have left. I do however, buy most of my books from thrift stores or friends give/let me borrow them.
6. How do you like your eggs cooked? Anyway you can make them - scrambled, over easy, sunny side, hard boiled, etc. - but, I've never had a poached egg before.
7. Can you whistle? Indeed I can, and my boyfriend hates that I can and he can't :)
8. What common word do you always misspell? I'd like to think I am really good at grammar and spelling (I was in a spelling bee up against 8th graders when I was in Kindergarten) but I sometimes misspell the words, "convenient" and "maintenance".
9. Are you afraid of flying? Not really, I just don't want to EVER fly on a prop plane again!
10. How often do you go shopping? What kind of shopping are we talkin' here? Grocery shopping, fun-just-for-me-kind-of-shopping, shopping-for-others-kind-of-shopping, shopping-to-blow-some-cash-shopping? Cause I haven't really been able to do any kind of shopping other than grocery shopping lately and I usually go once or twice a week.

udi's weekend

I, like most people nowadays, have to eat gluten free. I have never had a blood test (due to insurance reasons) to see if I have Celiac's Disease; but I know for sure that I have at least a food intolerance.

My friend Becky over at Welcome to the Good Life, posted about her favorite gluten free brands and I couldn't agree with her more, although I haven't tried Amy's Mac & Cheese yet (I can''t find it at my grocery store). But my most favorite brand of all gluten free time is Udi's!

On Saturday, I had a delicious (burnt) hot dog on Udi's Gluten Free Hot Dog Buns...

And then on Sunday, I had a delicious fresh mozz and pepperoni pizza on Udi's Gluten Free Pizza Crusts...

Then tonight, I topped off all of the Udi's deliciousness with Cinnamon Sugar Buttered Toast on Udi's White Bread (which is just as good as the whole grain bread they make)

Clearly, Udi's is the next best thing for gluten free bread eaters such as myself. When I say it's delicious, I really mean it's delicious! Happy eating gluten free friends!

a birthday to remember

Most birthdays are remembered for the cool present you got, the people that you spent it with or that surprise birthday party that your friends threw you, but this year and every year after, I will remember two very special angels.

My Aunt Gail (my dad's sister) died yesterday after suffering from liver disease, among other things. I didn't get to see her all that much but she still was a great person and always thought of others and put them before herself. She will be missed and is loved!

Bonnie, a mentor, a mother, a sister, a grandma, and a friend to everyone she met, got called up to Heaven yesterday. She was involved in a fatal car crash on I-270 in Columbus. She has had a profound impact on lives young and old and she will never truly know how amazing she is. She will forever be loved and missed greatly.

May the both of you, Bonnie and Aunt Gail, rest in peace and I will see you again, someday!

Sending lots of prayers, love & laughter,
J
